The last two months? Total blur. I barely touched my laptop to write. Oops! 😬 I’ll try to be more consistent… but, you know, life. July in Kenya is usually the peak of cozy, cold weather, my favourite , but somehow it’s September and still chilly. Thanks, global warming? Anyway, I’m not mad—yet.

The cold actually came in clutch because my cousin’s wedding ,yes, the one that’s already happened by the time you read this, kept me busy and exhausted. Between work and wedding prep, I became a full-time Nairobi road warrior. Honestly, I don’t know how I would’ve survived the usual 27-degree heat without combusting into a pile of glitter and regret. Cold weather, you MVP, I salute you! But seriously, who knew wedding planning involved this much cardio? I deserve a medal… or at least a nap… by the beach 🏖️.

Speaking of naps, with busy days and even busier evenings and weekends, it was high time I booked some time off—just a week of pure, blissful relaxation. My last holiday was way back in early April, which in adult years is basically a decade ago. So yeah, I was long overdue for a little R&R!

But before I could hit the holiday button, August came in with a couple of surprises! First off, I got promoted! Eeek! 🎉 Secondly, I dove into some super exciting projects at work that I wish I could tell you about, but for now, I’ll just say… watch this space. I know, I know, I’ve been teasing you for a while, but hey, good things come to those who wait, right?

Oh, and here’s the wildest part: I realised recently that I actually love coding and development now. 19-year-old me would’ve rolled her eyes at that revelation. Who am I?!

For my time off, we, my boyfriend and I, decided to road trip down to Diani, and let me tell you, it was three glorious days of doing absolutely nothing productive—just the way I like it! We completely unplugged, spent hours basking by the beach like sun-deprived lizards, took dreamy sundown swims in the warm ocean, and devoured all the seafood I could get my hands on. I say me because apparently seafood does not appeal to everyone. Oh, and Aperol spritzes? Every. Single. Day. 🍹 I don’t know what kind of magic they put in those, but sipping one by the beach felt like peak luxury. Honestly, I’m still trying to figure out why I ever came back.

But, in a rare act of responsible adulting, yes, I’m shocked too, I actually planned it so that by the time we got back, I still had a few solo quiet days to recover from… well, the hard work of being on holiday. Because let’s be honest, who really goes back to work refreshed after vacation unless they’ve factored in a post-vacation recovery buffer? I was determined to waltz back into work looking zen, not like I just ran a marathon in sandals. My coworkers were going to think I’d been meditating on a mountaintop, not lounging on a beach eating my body weight in shrimp and prawns and drinking close to a litter of Aperol spritzes and mimosas everyday. Do I have any regret? Absolutely not!

A few snapshots from my Diani adventures, because what’s a vacation without a little photographic evidence? 📸✨
