The week after FHL is always one to mentally adjust back to. Normal routine of meetings alongside daily deliverables that the last week did not have. I love FHL week because of the opportunity to learn everyday without the pressure of delivering. To be honest, I also did miss the daily interaction between my team and I. So yes, I have been happy to be back to normal! This week has been full steam ahead on finishing a task that has dragged on for a while because it didn’t end up as straight forward as we initially thought. I am proud of getting it this far though.
Biggest lesson I’ve learnt is how IMPORTANT good documentation is. I used to, still do sometimes, doubt myself when I write what seems like long and very detailed comments or documentation. The KISS principle. Keep It Simple and Stupid. How I to remember how to write good documentation is to write it in a way I’d like to read it if I were on the other end.
Following a project through from beginning, getting past its hurdles, creating new hurdles sometimes, exhausting all sorts of solutions until you find one that fits your current problem temporarily or permanently; that brings a lovely satisfying feeling, and a huge sense of ownership over it that only makes you want to see it succeed. But also be ready to let it go if/when the time comes. That’s been my feeling this week.
A full week of working from home!
I did plan to maybe pop into the office a day or two this week but after realising I already had good momentum in working from home, why break it? I definitely lived in the same t-shirt and sweats all week.
Spruced the t-shirt with a pretty shirt whenever I had a meeting that needed my camera on.
