This article is the second part of my favourites series that covers any tech-related item, software, book, app that I have used and extremely enjoyed, and would recommend to anyone. July favourites
I know we’re almost through September, but here are the items I enjoyed using the most last month.
Alan Turing: The Enigma
The Enigma is a book that covers the life and work of the father of Computer Science, Alan Turing, by Andrew Hodges.
He went down in history by cracking cryptic messages in the second world war and in 1945 turned one of his concepts into the very first computer. The book inspired the film The Imitation Game where Alan Turing is played by one of my favourite actors:) just incase you’d rather watch than read.
Think Python: How To Think Like A Computer Scientist
For anyone interested in learning python in depth from the beginning, this is highly recommended. I first went through it in the beginning of the year, but I have been coming to it for references more often in the past month. It has tons pf exercises that sharped you problem solving skills and does not just teach you how to write code.
The book by Allen B. Downey aims to teach the reader how to think like a computer scientist, and primarily focuses on problem solving skills.
The Bible App- You Version
I have used this app for years, but what currently stands out for me is the audio feature that allows me to listen to Scripture as I do other things or as I’m walking or working out. It has always been there I just never took the time to try it out. Now that I have, I can’t stop. I use the NIV version.
That’s all for my August favourites. See you in September Favourites there are a lot of interesting items I got my hands on 😀
